There is so much that goes on behind the scenes.
First let’s take a look at this picture – can you tell which tooth is the dental implant?
Drag the slider to find out.
Looks good right?
Now let’s take a look underneath – the bit you never see.
This is a beautifully and expertly made crown that fits on a dental implant very precisely. Now if you take an even closer look you will see this:
This is the mark of this part of the crown (which fits into the dental implant itself) being a genuine Straumann component.
Other than the massive amount of preparation and planning that I do for every single implant case once the patient has left the clinic (which I will tell you about in a future post), the components and materials used like those above makes a big difference in the final result. Not all implants and components are created equal. Even if a reputable implant brand is used, using genuine components in the tooth crown production is equally important. Genuine components are those manufactured or recommended by the original implant maker. These components fit perfectly with the implant system, reducing the risk of complications. Non-genuine, often cheaper, alternatives may not match the exact specifications of the implant system, leading to poor fit and function.
The use of high-quality materials and genuine components in dental implants cannot be overstated. That’s why we always use the highest quality laboratories based in the UK along with genuine components, which naturally comes at a higher cost, but why compromise?
If you are thinking about dental implants, I’d love to hear from you to see how I can help.
